Trinity Church, Folsom Announcement

The Rev. Todd Bruce Joins Trinity Episcopal Church in Folsom as Rector

by Trinity Church, Folsom

The Rev. Todd Bruce has been named rector at Folsom’s historic Trinity Episcopal Church. The appointment is the result of a nearly year-long process that attracted applicants nationwide to this church whose parishioners have been a driving force for community outreach programs locally, and throughout the northern California diocese.

Father Todd comes to the Folsom community from Kansas City, Missouri, where he served five years as associate rector of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church and Day School.

He replaces the Rev. Charles Cornell who retired after leading the Folsom congregation for 12 years. The Rev. Patricia Kempster continues as associate pastor.

“Churches frequently receive many first-time visitors and guests to their services during the Christmas season”, according to Father Todd, “this month I look forward to greeting our parishioners and to welcoming potential newcomers who may want to learn more about our vibrant parish.”

He continues, “In addition, we have a new music director who is continuing to build upon our traditions as well as adding to our range of musical offerings at each service. As for myself, I love to chant the liturgy and to sing the great classical hymns of the Anglican tradition, but have retained a fondness for the evangelical hymns I grew up singing.”

The Rev. Bruce is a native of Georgia and a graduate of the University of Georgia where he worked for several years following his graduation. He later moved to Washington, D.C. to attend the Virginia Theological Seminary and graduated in 2007.

One of Folsom’s earliest congregations, Trinity Episcopal was founded in 1856 and is located in old-town Folsom at 803 Figueroa Street. The familiar carpenter-gothic-style church building was constructed in 1861. Sunday Holy Eucharist services are held at 7:30 am, 9:00 am and 11:00 am Father Todd looks forward to leading the popular Christmas caroling and candlelight services at 4:00 pm, 8:00 pm and 10:30 pm on Christmas Eve and at 10:00 am on Christmas Day. The 4:00 pm Christmas Eve service includes a pageant in which all children in attendance are invited to participate.
