by the Rev. Dr. Gail Cafferata, Associate, Incarnation, Santa Rosa; Interim Supply Priest, St. Andrew's in the Redwoods; Visiting Researcher, Boston University School of Theology and Center for Practical Theology

The Rev. Dr. Gail Cafferata, Associate Priest at Incarnation, Santa Rose and Interim Supply Priest at St. Andrew's in the Redwoods, presented a paper "The Last Pastor: Adaptive Challenges and Well-Being among Protestant Clergy Closing Their Churches" at the 76th Annual meeting of the Association for the Sociology of Religion in San Francisco.

The paper reflects preliminary results of an ecumenical and national study of pastors in the Presbyterian, Lutheran (ELCA), Methodist (UMC) and United Church of Christ (UCC) churches. This research was conducted in her role as a Visiting Scholar at Boston University School of Theology (2012-2015). The Episcopal Church has recently agreed to join the study.

The Rev. Dr. Cafferata was reappointed as a Visiting Researcher in the Center for Practical Theology for the period of May 1, 2014 through June 30, 2015 at Boston University.

"The Last Pastor" will be published in the coming months. For details or questions about her paper, please contact the Rev. Dr. Cafferata via phone at Incarnation, Santa Rosa at 707-579-2604 or via US Mail at:
