St. Clement's Welcomes New Priest

St. Clement's Welcomes New Priest

by Bobbie Keill, People's Warden, St. Clement's, Rancho Cordova

The Vestry of St. Clement's, Rancho Cordova is pleased to announce that our discernment process has resulted in the appointment of our new Priest-in-Charge, the Rev. Dr. David Davidson-Methot. The Rev. Dr. Davidson-Methot officially joined St. Clement's on November 1, 2014, just in time for him to participate in the Rev. David Bridges’ Ordination to the Holy Order of Deacons.

Given the Rev. Dr. Davidson-Methot’s past experience as a rector and chaplain, and his strong interest in church development and growth, the Vestry believes that he will be able to guide us on a path that leads to a stronger presence in the community and greater financial stability.

The Rev. Dr. Davidson-Methot was born in Michigan and raised in Arizona, completing a BA in Comparative Religion at Northern Arizona University (Flagstaff). He attended seminary at Church Divinity School of the Pacific (CDSP)  and was in the same class as Bishop Barry Beisner. He then served as an Assistant at St Paul's, Walnut Creek; was an Interim at Our Saviour, Placerville and was the Rector of Emmanuel, Grass Valley from 1983-1990.

He then relocated to Southern California, and was Rector and Headmaster at St. Patrick's Episcopal Church and Episcopal Day School in Thousand Oaks. While there, he returned to school in Santa Barbara and completed his PhD in Clinical Psychology in 2000. Since then, he has worked mainly in the mental health field, while continuing to work for The Episcopal Church as a chaplain, counselor and evaluator of ordination candidates. He is excited to join our parish, as our Priest-in-Charge, and we are eager to begin our work together.

We welcome Fr. Dave to St. Clement’s with open hearts as we go forward together “to love and serve the Lord, hallelujah, hallelujah!"
