St. Augustine Helps Stop Hunger Now

by St. Augustine of Canterbury, Rocklin

"Runner, runner," was the cry at the Stop Hunger Now meal-packing event held at St. Augustine of Canterbury, Rocklin.

St. Augustine's social hall buzzed with activity as 129 volunteers raced to fill meal packs with high protein, nutritious dehydrated foods. Each meal cost $0.25, and over $6,000 was raised to fund this project.

The runners, mostly children, picked up the assembled and sealed meals and dashed them to the loading teams, who then pack the meals into large cardboard boxes. These boxes were then taken out to the Stop Hunger Now truck, awaiting shipment to the Philippines.

More than 24,000 meals were assembled by inter-generational teams who sang and danced as they worked. And all of the meals were packaged, sealed and readied for shipping in just four hours!
