Sermons in Response to the Orlando Shooting

Sermons in Response to the Orlando Shooting

On June 12, 2016, 49 people were killed at the Pulse Nightclub in Orlando, Florida. On June 19, across the diocese, sermons were given to express our sympathies with all involved in this tragedy and to reaffirm that All Are Welcome within our church family.  For inspiration, support or examples of how to talk about the tragedy with those around you, a collection of sermons are presented here.

O God, you made us in your own image and redeemed us
through Jesus your Son: Look with compassion on the whole
human family; take away the arrogance and hatred which
infect our hearts; break down the walls that separate us;
unite us in bonds of love; and work through our struggle and
confusion to accomplish your purposes on earth; that, in
your good time, all nations and races may serve you in
harmony around your heavenly throne; through Jesus Christ
our Lord. Amen.
