Retired Clergy Lunch with the Bishop
by the Rev. Christine Leigh-Taylor, Chaplain to Retired Clergy and Surviving Spouses, The Episcopal Diocese of Northern California
A convivial group of retired clergy and spouses joined Bishop Barry Beisner (and myself) for a brief Eucharist and delicious catered lunch at beautiful St. Augustine of Canterbury Episcopal Church in Rocklin on November 30th. Since it was the Feast of St. Andrew, who was probably the first disciple to be called by Jesus, we talked about how our calls to ministry have developed and been transformed over the course of our lives. At lunchtime, most of our guests shared tidbits about their current ministries. Everyone commented on how much they enjoyed the two-hour gathering.
The intention is to hold these lunches with the Bishop twice a year, at locations around the diocese. The next one is tentatively scheduled for mid-to-late April 2016.
As the newly-appointed Chaplain to Retired Clergy and Surviving Spouses, I invite you contact me at any time. If you did not get a mailed invitation to the lunch, please email your address and contact information to Jacqi McKinney at jacqi@norcalepiscopal.org or the Rev. Christian Leigh-Taylor at leighta@mcn.org. We are trying to make sure we have a complete list. Thank you.
For more information, please contact the Rev. Christine Leigh-Taylor at leighta@mcn.org or 916-704-8698.
