NorCal SWAT Team - "We Come To You"

NorCal SWAT Team - "We Come To You"

by the Rev. Dr. Sean Cox, Chair of the Episcopal Diocese of Northern California’s Stewardship Commission and NorCal SWAT Commander

The new Stewardship Commission of the Episcopal Diocese of Northern California (formerly know as the Commission on Gratitude) launched this spring with a clear mission: “We come to you.”

To provide information and resources on how we are converted to generosity, the diocesan Stewardship Commission is currently known as “Northern California Stewardship With an Attitude of Thanksgiving” or "NorCal SWAT." Members of NorCal SWAT are veterans of nearly every “canned” stewardship program in the church. We admire all of them. Some might work in your church. Others won’t.

NorCal SWAT can consult with your vestry or stewardship team. We provide training on the essential elements of successful annual operating budget campaigns. We know just enough about planned giving to be dangerous, so call someone else for better advice. Unlike other “consultants,” we don’t have the magic formula, but we can help your congregation adapt ideas and put them to use.

The best news: NorCal SWAT members are volunteers. We don’t get paid to consult. But if we like your ideas, we’ll steal them shamelessly.

The NorCal SWAT Team members are: the Rev. Sean Cox, Commission Chair; Ane Deiser; Mark Lacher; John Miller; Randie Strike and the Rev. Matt Warren.
