ECS Announces Annual Advent Appeal

ECS Announces Annual Advent Appeal

by the Rev. Lucretia Jevne, Board President, Episcopal Community Services

"Joy!" is the theme for the third Sunday of Advent, December 14, 2014. During this season we all share in the joy of anticipation and expectation, as we await the coming of Christ into our world.

Joy is hoping. Joy is giving. Joy is receiving. Joy is sharing. On this third Sunday, we sing with Mary and share her joy -

“My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord,
My spirit rejoices in God my Savior!”
(Luke 1:46-47)

As we focus on her joy, which is also our joy, it is an appropriate time to share that joy with others. We, at Episcopal Community Services (ECS), hope that you will experience great joy this season and will share that joy generously so that we can continue the work of helping you “Serve Christ by Serving Others.”

All funds we raise are for our Ministry Development Fund and are used to help congregations develop, strengthen and support social outreach and health ministries in their communities. Since the funds are available to all congregations in our diocese, we hope that all congregations will also support each other by participating in this appeal. As we all give thanks together for the coming of Christ into our world, may we rejoice that we can serve him by serving all those he came to serve.
