Cross Dedication and Blessing

Cross Dedication and Blessing

by St. Luke's, Auburn

On Sunday, February 2, 2014 a Celtic Cross, mounted on the belfry of St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Auburn, California, was blessed and dedicated in loving memory of the Rev. Daniel Williamson, who passed away unexpectedly on July 11, 2013 while fly fishing on the Truckee River.

"Father Dan" retired in 2008 after serving as Rector of St. John's Episcopal Church in Roseville for many years. He was appointed as part-time Rector of St. Luke's, Auburn in 2010 and was named Priest in Charge in 2012.

Parishioners at St. Luke's, wishing to honor the beloved priest, held a fundraiser to pay for the 60 pound, 4 foot tall, acid washed, aluminum cross, which was mounted on the belfry roof in December.

What a lovely tribute to a wonderful priest, friend and brother in Christ. May Dan+ rest and rejoice in peace and thank you Lord for his life and witness and love of you. Sending love, prayers and warm blessings to Diane and the rest of Dan's family and to the congregations of St. Luke's, Auburn and St. John's, Roseville and to all who love and miss Dan.
