Capital Episcopal Youth Network

Capital Episcopal Youth Network

by Elizabeth Coldiron, Capital Episcopal Youth Network, Trinity Cathedral, Sacramento

The Capital Episcopal Youth Network was formed in the fall of 2014, when youth leaders from churches in and around the Sacramento area came together to create opportunities for youth to serve, learn and grow together- all while having fun!

In 2015, the holiday weekends of Martin Luther King Day and Presidents’ Day were the times these Episcopal youth served together for Sierra Service Project’s Weekend of Service. Youth from Trinity, Folsom; Faith, Cameron Park; Trinity Cathedral, Sacramento; St. John’s, Roseville; and St. Michael’s, Carmichael served area communities through painting, raking leaves, trash pick-up, hauling gravel and much more! Our youth and chaperons were hosted by North Sacramento United Methodist Church, and the evenings were filled with singing, laughing and competitive games of Apples to Apples.

The Capital Youth Episcopal Network also joined forces again for St. Matthew’s Spring Service Day on Saturday, March 21st in Sacramento. The goal was to spruce up the property through painting, cleaning walkways, planting flower beds and trees, trimming bushes and pulling lots of weeds! This important day of service also begin with prayer and ended with a special Eucharist.

Please stay tuned for news about our next service opportunities!
