Bishop Flunder is the senior pastor of the City of Refuge Church in Oakland. She will speak about her diverse ministry in the inner city, and how her congregation reaches for the “fringe” in society and pulls them to the center. Jesus hung out with those who were cast out by society and brought them to the center of his ministry. We are called to do the same. Bishop Flunder’s book Where the Edge Gathers speaks directly to this in a profound and moving way. It will touch your heart. Additionally, we will have a huge gift! Bishop Flunder’s choir is coming to sing!!! If you want to hear some great rockin’, gospel music, you will NOT want to miss this.

Trinity Cathedral has been at the forefront of championing the rights and voices of racial, sexual and gender minorities for decades. Bishop Yvette Flunder’s theology is one of “Radical Inclusion” and she has received critical acclaim for her book Where the Edge Gathers.
