Advent Appeal

Advent Appeal

by Episcopal Community Services

In 2013 Episcopal Community Services was able to help the congregations of this diocese serve Christ by serving others. We sponsored Bishop's Conference 2013 and gave out grants totaling $53,678. The congregations served were from all over the diocese from Sacramento to Arcata and included all sizes of churches from Trinity Cathedral to Quincy to Mt. Shasta.

ECS cannot continue this level of support for congregational ministry without the support of you, the congregations and people of the Episcopal Diocese of Northern California. To that end, the Rt. Rev. Barry L. Beisner has designated the third Sunday of Advent as our annual ECS Advent Appeal Sunday.

As Christmas approaches and we celebrate the joy with Mary of the coming birth, we are called to remember those whom the baby came to serve and lift up: the least, the lost, the lonely, and the needy among us. Joy is contagious if we share that joy with others. Part of the joy of Christmas is giving to others, especially those for whom Christmas means another day without food or shelter.

Please support our ECSAdvent Appeal. The money we raise this December will be returned to you, the people of this diocese, as you develop programs serving the needs of your communities. Encourage your church to participate in this appeal by downloading the bulletin inserts for use on December 15. Individuals can also donate securely on the ECS website:

Please be generous, and thank you for your generosity!
